Over the last year I have been running an Amazon Associates shop as part of home.uktechreviews.com.  This has been fairly profitable and I have received a moderate income from this.

I have recently re-launched the pages but offering more detail about each item.

If you are looking for a relatively easy way of making money on-line I can definitely recommend Amazon Associates as a starting point.

Check out our shop here.

Want to make money on the Internet? Start an Amazon Associate shop

Did you know that with very little experience you can start your own Amazon shop?

Becoming an Amazon Associate is extremely simple, easy and most importantly free.  This then allows you to place adverts on your website, blog or even just tweet out an offer.  For every purchase made from your link you receive a % advertising revenue.

You can also build a full Amazon shop stocking items in categories you choose which interest your readers / followers.  Of course you don't actually have to buy the stock or sell it, this is all done by Amazon!

My Amazon shop can be found here --> http://home.uktechreviews.com/Shop/shop.html fully integrated into my website.

It does take time to decide on what you would like to sell but once set up the Amazon associates shop simply takes care of it self.  With a bit of luck the revenue should follow.

To start your own shop head over to https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/ and get started today!

Good luck with your online empire!

Failure - don't worry

Do you feel a failure?

As Christians we all fail at some point.

Mark 14:53-54 (NIV)
They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders and teachers of the law came together. [54] Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.

Mark 14:66-72 (NIV)
While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. [67] When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. "You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said. [68] But he denied it. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said, and went out into the entryway. [69] When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, "This fellow is one of them." [70] Again he denied it. After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, "Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean." [71] He began to call down curses on himself, and he swore to them, "I don't know this man you're talking about." [72] Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times." And he broke down and wept.

Failure can be devastating in our lives.

Failed marriage
Failed business
Failed exam
Failed dream

The world looks down on failures and respects success, wealth etc.

We mustn't as Christians feel that failure be final - there is always something more.

God is the  God of Love, forgiveness and perfect plan for our lives.

One lost battle does not mean that we have lost the war.

Exodus 12:31 - 18:27 the story of God's chosen people - a story of as much failure as success.

2 Samuel 11:1-14 the story of King David.

Mark 14:72 (NIV)
Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times." And he broke down and wept.

Peter denies Jesus three times, he is so human and gets things wrong.

Mark 14:30-31 (NIV)
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "today---yes, tonight---before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times." [31] But Peter insisted emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the others said the same.

What greater failure could there be? Peter thought that he could cope with the pressure but simply failed Jesus.

We might think Peter could never recover from this and be useful again.

Jesus never criticised Peter and later spoke to him privately.

We fail for many reasons, but God is gracious, loving and full of compassion to us.

Lives can be turned around ..

2 Corinthians 11 - the example of Paul.

Paul had to be taught not to trust simply in his own strength.

Failure discloses our weaknesses and helps us understand the need we have for the help of God.

Failure with God is the key to Spiritual growth.

The cross is the ultimate sign of failure.

When we fail - come back to God.

We need to confess our failures.

1 John 1:9 (NIV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

God does not see us how we see ourselves. God does not see failure.

We might need help to move on, good Christian friends who love us and believe in us.

Should benefits be capped?

There has been much in the news over the last couple of days about people having a cap placed on the amount of benefits they can receive.

I personally think that the Government are right - work should pay and everyone should be encouraged into a full time job to support their families.  Welfare and benefits are important as it supports those who find themselves unable to work or support their families.

I have had a pay freeze now for 5 years in the public sector which means in real terms my pay has gone down as the price for everything goes up.

Should benefits therefore go up at a faster rate than inflation and should there be a cap on how much you should be entitled to receive?

I read on the BBC news website this article today about this.

What interested me the most was not the content but the comments left.  I am naturally drawn to the lowest rated comments on any BBC News article and this didn't disappoint.

As someone with a very hard working ethic (and who incidentally also wants the best for my kids) I found this amazing.  I was shocked for many reasons but what struck me the most was that I thought these sort of images of benefit claimants were made up by the media.  Do they not feel that with this example their children may also become NEETS when they leave school?

What should we expect from free apps?

What should you expect from a free app?

For the last few years Apple have released a now familiar app called “12 days of Christmas” where each day from December 26th - January 6th a free iTunes gift is given each day.  This App generously is free and gives people with a new iOS device a certain amount of free content to start with after Christmas.

With the vast amount of varied content on iTunes across all the different media streams it is unlikely that everyone will like every App, song, video, iBook or music video offered.

Today (Day 7 - January 1st 2013), the selection was a free film from Disney Pixar - Toy Story Toons.  Like many people I eagerly hit “Get Free Film” shortly after midnight in the anticipation of showing this to my kids later that day.

Unfortunately I was met with an error message that this video was not available in the UK.  Reading some of the comments on iTunes for the 12 days App it quickly appeared that I was not the only person getting this message.

Many of the comments posted on iTunes expressed a great deal of anger and frustration at Apple and iTunes for this mistake.  This poses for me an interesting question.

If an App or product is provided as a free gift, do we as consumers have a right to complain when it fails to meet a good standard (or even work in this case)?  The comments provided by iTunes users overwhelmingly believe that they do have a right to complain and leave negative feedback.  Personally I don’t believe that we should complain when something free (or in this case 1/12 of it) doesn’t work but am hoping that it will be resolved quickly.  If this became a regular issue and more content either didn’t work or wasn’t available in certain countries I think the consumers would have an issue with iTunes.

What do you think?
