Advent

I love Advent, it is one of my favourite seasons in the church calendar. This is seen traditionally as a season of expectation and preparation.

Today we put together our Advent candles and light the first one.

Some verses to reflect on at the start of advent.

Romans 13:11 (NIV)
And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

Romans 13:12 (NIV)
The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Psalm 24:7 (NIV)
Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Revelation 22:20 (NIV)
He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
